Civil Engineering / Built Environment
Roads, active travel, cut/fill, drainage, water supply and geotechnics — the infrastructure that makes development possible.
Our role is central to ensuring the safe, timely and well-resourced completion of projects — from feasibility, pre-planning and Uisce Éireann liaison through to handover — on new development and upgrade or retrofit works, across sustainable design and inspection of civil infrastructure, roads and active travel, waste management and geotechnical engineering. Our philosophy at all times is to meet the design brief by producing the most cost-effective and appropriate construction solution.
Roads & Infrastructure
Road design, DMURS-compliant street and active travel design, Road Safety Audits, and Traffic and Transport Assessments — from residential estate roads and junctions through to strategic infrastructure delivered with Local Authorities.

Surface Water & Sustainable Drainage
Sustainable collection and discharge of surface water run-off from the built environment is an essential element in delivering sustainable development. We design Nature Based Solutions and SuDS-led drainage strategies that enhance biodiversity and amenity value, satisfy planning authorities and perform over the life of the development — including blue and green roofs designed with architects as part of the sustainable drainage strategy.

Flood Risk Assessment
Flood Risk Assessments, flood modelling and Surface Water Management Plans are developed to reduce flood risk to developments and their environs into the future with our changing climate.

Pumping Stations
Where gravity drainage is not feasible, AOCA designs and oversees the installation of foul water pumping stations tailored to the scale and operational needs of each development — from small residential schemes to large multi-unit developments. We work closely with local authorities and specialist suppliers to ensure reliable operation, resilience and long-term maintainability of pumping infrastructure.

Geotechnical Engineering
We provide a full geotechnical design and consultation service — utilities and topographical surveys, infiltration tests, CBR tests, boreholes, in-situ soil sampling, laboratory testing and trial holes — because understanding the ground early is the cheapest risk management a project can buy.
