St. Patrick's National School, Newbridge

School extension around a live campus — SEN classroom, SET rooms and library delivered with the wider design team.

Project Overview

AOCA provided full Civil and Structural Engineering services throughout the Planning, Tender and Construction stages for this extension to an existing school. Working alongside McLoughlin Architecture and the wider design team, the project delivered modern educational facilities, including a new SEN classroom, two SET rooms, a library/resource room and a boiler room, together with alterations to the existing school layout, revised car parking arrangements and a secure soft play area.

The 204 m² extension was constructed using traditional masonry with structural steel frame supports, incorporating a steel portal frame to create the large open-span SEN classroom. The project also included the installation of a new wastewater pump station, sustainable stormwater drainage infrastructure and associated external works, ensuring the development was fully integrated with the existing school campus.

Services Provided

Civil engineering design, structural engineering design, planning stage services, tender stage services, construction stage services and construction certification.
