Bohernamona Road, Thurles

96-unit residential development — complete civil engineering design as a single coordinated entity, delivered in two phases.

Project Overview

AOCA provided the complete Civil Engineering design services for this 96-unit residential development located in Thurles, Co. Tipperary. The scheme was designed as a comprehensive development, with all infrastructure elements including foul and storm drainage, water mains and internal road layouts fully designed as a single coordinated entity.

The site naturally falls from east to west towards the public roadway, providing favourable conditions for the proposed development. The project was designed to be delivered in two phases, with the initial phase located on the eastern side of the site to maximise connectivity to existing services. Despite the phased construction approach, all engineering design was completed for the full development to ensure a seamless and efficient delivery process when construction proceeds.

A key element of the civil design was the development of a significant stormwater attenuation storage area located to the north-west of the site, together with a gravity foul sewer system discharging towards the public roadway and onwards to an existing pumping station further north-west. While the internal site levels allowed for effective gravity drainage, the variation in levels between the site discharge point and the pumping station required detailed assessment and careful design coordination.

Services Provided

Civil engineering design, site infrastructure design, foul and stormwater drainage design, watermain design, road layout design, phasing strategy development and utility coordination.
